well i will scramble together the last 5 days in cartegena...................................................................................i ended up staying at my hotel i wrote of..................................................basically u walked in and down a hallway where they sold food n drinks then there was an open air garden or terrace or ? anyways there was about 8 rooms off this open air area and approx 3 couples 2 single moms a few singles and myself all stayed there prob 12 - 14 people with 1 tiolet and 2 shower stalls(i am living like a colombian i totally fit right in here! and the others were def living there some rooms mighta had a tiolet i dunno either way i usually went to the one in rest.{s anyways hard to believe we have so much needless stuff in canada but imagine living in a room smaller than most 2{nd bedrooms back home like a single room but not masterbedroom size smaller and all your posessions u own is in that room! well that is life for most colombians! anyways i{ve totally been thinking that i could live in colombia or if my entire life ever whent straight to shit............................................i{d pick this outta all the countries i{ve been to.........................then i laughed and thought I AM LIVING LIKE A COLOMBIAN here in this place.......................but i wasn{t there for cheapness...............................finally is safe to leave my moneybelt in room as they was always someone in that open air courtyard that would see or hear any niose if someone tried to break in my room...............................it was totally secure as they{d had to bust down the door to get into my room! i made freinds with 3 other old guys in the last town those guys came up to me........................this time i say them sitting in front of a bar drinking passing round lil cups of shots.....................so i strolled over intro{d myself offered them all a smoke they offered me a shot and we bacame best freinds for next 4 nights sharing many a bottle of this stuff a mickey was 1.30 and a 750 ml bottle or 26 oz. was 2.40 and smooth only 14 % alcohol afterwards i heard this stuff wasn{t so good and mainly homelñess and drunks only drink it ho and mw n my 3 freinds i guess.......haah basicaly all 4 or 5 days there i basically walked around during the day looking at beautiful city with old churches n bspanish buildings totally surrounded by a fortress wall.........it was really pretty there in evenings i also wetn to other parks and sat around talking to locals some of thrm wanting to speak english with tourist for free english lesson so i gladly helped them better their english. 1 night i was surprised at about 9:00 pm a drunk guy, didn{t look dirty enough to be homeless........anyways he was hasseling me to give him money or buy him food then all of a sudden he kinda lunged or dove towards me reaching for my pocket with my lil money bag.........he only managed to open the pocket, couldn{t grab the bag, which i only carrry 20.00 oe lwess at nights, but when he landed stomach first on ground..............about 3 men held him down and started shouting at him for trying to rob a tourist..........................i got up yeled at him then decided best i leave and get awaty from this guy.............i was ticked off and surprised in front of all these people he{d try such a thing? oh also 1 night i was in the bar latr 1/2 block from my hotel where i hung out with the old 3 guys, anyways police came in and made everyone show i.d. and frisked 2 guys in the bar then the cops studied ther paperwork for about 10 mins, meanwhile,................only in colombia while this was all going on, people would still go up and as trh bartender tried to talk to cops, people would go up and buy another beer.................................while all this was going on....................i wouldn{t say i was in a raid..................but everyone had to show i.d. people got frisked and bar was almost shut down.......................hmmmm what would u call that? i realy made freinds with the 2 scruffy lil dogs at that hotel.......................they would eun up to me evertime i came to hotel cuz i was only person that played rough with them........at night they{d scratch on dor to come in and i thought okay at first.....................but all dogs have fleas here it seems so i thought to let dogs sleep in my room, dirty as i was some days thr flrrs might hop ovwer onto to me, as i was not much clraner than those 2 crazy lil dogs..............so hot sweaty n dusty here impossible to keep clean so i{ve accepted being a slob and dirty quite often oh one of those english students.............i explained what i was paying for eoom then how i told lady i{d give an extra .80 if i got 3 shirts washed with my next nights rent......................they said there was a woerd in spanish for like schemer or con man.......................they told me i was like that word for having such a cheap room then getting a better deal with the laundy included in price for .80 more........................i laughed i knew darn well that at even 4.50 that i paid the others living there were paying less............................so why shouldn{t i try for beter deal never hrts to try right? was sad in the square/plaza thry pointrd out girls to mr 14 - 19 beautiful young girls with their whole lives ahead of them.............................that they were hokers....................................i felt sad for them thinking these girls with theire whole lives ahead of them are sleeping with dirty old men for thr chance to make 4.0 or 6.00 how sad! the guys i spoke with said it was good i felt this way b/c many toueists here come for the cheap sex with young girls..............................that is even sadder! one afternon i also took bus 30 mins north to a lil fishing town full of beachhuts seling beer n seafod from the dirtiest kitchen no doubt but i had some amazing fish there n ice cold beers cheap too as outside the touristy city i thought it{d be worth the .60 bus fare to check it out! finally left that town at 2:00 from my hotel and local bus to stn then bus about 180 kms to santa marta it took almost 7 1/2 hrs oh i was mad! at bus stn i specificaly asked for direct bus, is faster, and was told i had ticket for direct bus that would aviod the next town and br 3 hrs total......why did i somehow believe this!!!!!!!!!!!!!. well it drfinately stopped in that town it was to aviod.........worse yet i had to switch busses and this one sat for 1 174 hrs while we waited for bus to fill up.......the driver was shouting name of town otu every 4 mins and sometimes if too much time passed i{d yell out name as the faster the bus filled up the faster i{d be on my way...............................................then just before reaching here had to switch to a 3{rd bus luckily it was 90% full when i got on...............................so much for the direct ticket i thought i was so clever to ask for...................................................welcome to 3{rd world travel! well i decided trip is almost over adn i was grtting a room with a toilet seat for sure! sure enough i found a place 6.00 room in a lady{s house but clean my own bathroom in room with a toilrt seat..........she wanted 8.00 i explained that was waaay to much because no more tourists left, high season is over now, so thought about it and accepted 6.00 gladly it is a nice room laura would like it view of ocean from my room i met this guy here from argentina but livign here he pays 50.00 per moneth for 2 storey 2 bedroom house with view of the ocean...................................plus he can rent out bottom room if he likes...........................unsure i may switch to that for night or two...........he is nice and honest anyways told me last night that i shouldn{t wear my watch at night because i could get robbed for my watch i looked at him doubtfully then he told mee his freind 3 weeks ago was walking adn 3 guys came up and stole his shoes from him............................and eh is local! no more wearing watch at night for me..............crazy things is is crapy ole watch ...............but beter saef than sorry.......went to a freind of his house last night to listen to music and have some beers was nice to see they bought their onw and never asked or expected the tourist to pay......that is why i like them plus he speaks english n spanish so i can ask him many things to better my spanish! well as logn as eh doesn{t try to steal my shoes one night when i am walking home with him...............haha hmmmmm unsure what to do sad that only 7 days left maybe tomoro travel on more towards venezuala to beautiful park reserve!!!!!!!! but i have a 16 he bus ride back to bogota and lord knows if they say 16 prob be 21 so maybe i shouldn{t keep going further away from bogota, where i fly outta all is well eating lots of seafood from all the kinda places that prissy tourists warned me to stay away from,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,hahaha
