finally at the caribean ocean and i am gonna eat seafood

well i hated being in such a big city i took that tour and constantly looked at the traffic and just hated being in such a big city..................6 million with surrounding suburbs i heard! crazy i felt like a caged animal on that bus in such a big city........why would people wanna live in such a big place? oh well to each his own i guess! on the tour was a couple from Chicago, Colombian born Americans basically. anyways the guy made me laugh and they were in 40´s and quite the prissy travelers..........................he told me he got sick in cartegena(town i just arrived in) and was coming outta both ends, so he had to see the doctor included in their hotel stay, on site doctor!, and get 2 needles........................................................Dave H member in Nicaragua when i was same thing and worse we didn´t have our own bathroom and was sharing with the entire floor while i occupied it all night! i didn´t get no shots from doctor? he asked if i had hotel reserved here, i said no, he suggested the Hilton......................then said if my budget was less to be sure i ask if hotel had doctor on site before i paid.......................i smiled and slowly explained i would prob stay in hostel for 5.00 per night maybe in dorm room sharing it with others....................and that it wouldn´t have doctor he also warned me about eating seafood there, that was what got him sick, and i told him i was going there specifically for seafood and would prob eat any and every bit of seafood i could lay my hands on from all types of rest´s n street stalls.............................goes to prove my point of fate he was high priced traveller staying n eating in fancy places.......................and he got sick.......................i stay in dives , like my last hooker haven hotel, eat in some rest´s that i shouldn´t probably totally local places n i haven´t gotten sick yet......................i told him this and he nodded actually agreeing...........................as it is true sadly getting sick is just part of travelling i think as to experience the country u must try all the local foods and from those dirty lil mom n pop places is usually the best or from street stalls........with no running water where i´ve seen them just dip plates/utensils in cold water, rub their fingers over them a bit......................and presto ready for the next customer...........i even had water droplets at times cuz they just shake the plate to dry it!.............i try not to think of this or i wouldn´t be able to eat i told this guy what i paid for hotel............................i could physically see his jaw drop and he repeated the amount then he told his wife n bro in law and they both reacted the same....................they obviously all had a bit of money and couldn´t comprehend such low budget travel....................myself i am proud to know i can handle it and am not prissy and can suck it up.............................room is only to sleep in anyways too nice a room sucks u in and u spend time in it rather than on the streets soaking up the culture. was nice couple they even gave me a meto ticket for me to get to bus station to leave town which was so nice oh forgot to mention i was quite proud of my thinking..........................i had to check outta hotel at noon, right after sending lat email, and had a gut feeling i shouldn´t leave my bag at that hotel i dunno just a gut feeling................so i wet to tourist info booth which said hey couldn´t hold bag against policy...........................................then across the street was totally a 5 star hotel...................i walked in directly past the front desk n workers looking for the guy in charge saw a well dressed worker in a suit manager or something...........anyways i kinda looked like i was gonna cry and said i was going on tour of city on tour bus and couldn´bring my bag, had no where to put it, that my last hotel was dangerous, hookers, drugs......................please ............can u hold my bag for 6 hours ....... he motioned for bellboy to come..................they gave me a ticket to sign my name 1/2 went on bag 1/2 given to me..................and my bag was brought to a locked storage room......................i shook the guys hand thanked him about 4 times and offered to buy us each a beer, across the street i pointed where it would be cheaper than this posh hotel, but he said he couldn´t because of work so i offered him 2000 pesos to buy himself a beer after work(i actually know how to say all this n Spanish poorly but he understood) he wouldn´t accept it....................................what a nice guy now honestly not to brag,but this was crafty thinking on my part to solve a problem when i had no one else to help me would anyone out there think or have the courage to ask a hotel to do this when u didn´t stay there???????????????????????????????? worse they coulda said as no............in which case i woulda left that town at that moment i woulda had to as i wasn´t going to walk back to my hotel to leave it thee...................the hookers were kinda made i ouldn´t sleep with them and one wanted me to buy her supper because i was a rich tourists she said................i explained if i was rich i wouldn´t be staying at that hotel............so kinda agreed but still knew i had enough money to buy her a 2.00 supper!(guess i coulda went to bus station, checked bag in storage returned downtown for trip then went to retrieve bag...............................but going to the fancy hotel was just so much easier and being a tourist i hate to say i really figured they´d do it just to be nice! for sure wouldn't do it for a local never in a million years there is some benefits to 3´rd world travel! my favorite kind of country! i took another 12 hr bus ride, i tired when buying ticket to get the guy to lower the price, it worked in popayan!, but he wouldn´t budge both companies were same price 45.00 US expensive i think and loudly stated it ........................they were like a mafia price fixing............as i found out locals pay waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less than tourists this is the shitty part of 3´rd world travel..............at least they let us tourists walk around with beer on the streets kinda makes up for it..........................................not really though! oh well we had a flat tire which was great as i had 3 beers in the hour it took to change the inner rear tire....plus made this old lady laugh as i said in Spanish we should get drunk then we could sleep the rest of the way she and everyone listening all laughed as drank beer by myself on the road waiting.................plus can u believe, welcome to a 3´rd world country, thy had no flashlight the bus workers or the lil rest/tire repair shop we stopped t...........................no freaken flashlight so the men tried holding their cell phones out giving off hardly any light....................then the workers wife brought out a candle...........................and i was thinking hope the gas tank doesn´t leak...................................like the dark ages here! crazy! also passed 2 more sets of those sand bag fortresses on each side of 2 bridges.......................weird makes u feel like u are in a Vietnam war movie for a second or so when u see that, then u snap outta it and realize it is now and real......................smart though by cutting off access to bridges u coulda totally isolate travel for guerrillas or extremists or ? had a young army guy fully in army gear standing with assault rifle.................................it was middle of night no chair around him....................this poor bugger prob stands for hours there!!!!!!!!!!!! poor guy luckily for me thought all this stuff is to make the country safer and i love to see it..................it is totally for my mom´s lil baby´s protection.........................me! haha oh well finally arrived here took almost 15 hrs.................................................brutal i think this is the 6´th 12 hr bus trip i take...................................................just think it is like i drove to Calgary 6 times in the last 4 1/2 weeks that is a lot of time spent on buses.........................sadly i still gotta bus back to Bogota! plus head towards Venezuela even more yet befoe returning! well i´n in nice lil ocean town many tourists here i´ve seen already and this place will totally be safe to walk around after dark i´ve asked many locals already plus it is just a touristy backpacker area full of cheap hotels n rest´s n souvenir shops.................cheesy but will be many people on the streets till late at night................................and totally police n army everywhere! locals are fattest here i´ve seen yet standard of living must be good.................that is shitty though as will be more expensive here for stuff! i´m at a totally crap hole again regret taking it but after the bus ride here then bus into town and 30 minutes walking with heavy bag i just took it....................room is okay small about 7 ´by 10 ´ but the shared bathroom with the owners has no toilet seat, no latch on door and shower is just a 1/2 " rusty pipe sticking out from the wall, guaranteed will be no hot water and i would hate to get the runs with no toilet seat i´ve decided that i´ll just buy a water or juice for like .40 at rest next door to hotel and then i can use the toilet as i only go once a day anyways or so! problem solved! tomorrow i will change hotels asked at another place 12.00 with private bathroom n cable t.v. and balcony overlooking the street i´m gonna splurge on that if they have opening tomorrow! my place is 5.00 so leave a lotta room to buy many juices to use fancy bathroom at rest nxt door.................plus it is totally secure as it is basically a room in the families house so they are always there that no wone will break in.............finaly not wearing my money belt 24 hrs per day which is nice. yikes the loacals are fat here........................this town may be more exp then i think. haha seriously though life looks good here their clothes are cleaner than mine! had great lunch at a totally local place fish rice n beans salad soup juice was 1.75 where a ham sandwich only at touristy rest next to my hotel in 3 .00 .....it was worth alking 3 blocks into local neighborhood for lunch in touristy area things are a lot more! well there is lots of fortres´ n stuff to see here a boat trip to islands and i hear a bus that drives u to 4 or 5 different bars gving u shots of aguadiente along the way overpriced at 30.00 (remember my hotel is 5.00) but i may treat myself and go, specially if i can get them down to 15.00 or even 20.00 as everything is negotiable i this country i like that!! oh and passed by a rest.............40 item for 3.00 from milnesse or creole chicken to pasta´s n fish dishes so i am exited for supper already..................plus be nice to chat with other back packers to find out what to see n do here think i´ll drink a lot of beer tnight i am sweatin like crazy here at computer...............thirsty 5 min call home to my mommy plus 2 hrs internet is 1.50 so soy muey contento..........i m very happy! won´t even try haggling or crying a sad stor at that price................cheapest internet i´ve seen in 2 hrs of walking(away from trouristy area) so i sat in................sorry laura u were t work so i had to call the other lady i love............my mom! will try to call u soon hot laura! i´m so freakin sick n tired of busing n walking n seaching for hotels i am staying here 3 days maye more! this is the twn where person can take a 7 day hike through the jungle to a remote ´lost city´ruins but that would take 1/2 my remaining time left........................who knows maybe tonight i´ll get drunk and some other tourists will tell me how awesome it is and i´ll decide to go.............................that is how i went to africa while on my way to italy which totaly got me hooked o travelling years ago..............................2 bottles of cheap spanish wine and i was decided to go to Morocco well now i am blabbering.................ht here gotta run gonna have a beer walk to beach, watch sunset with another beer and debate what to do my naxt 13 days or so....................keep going on more n more or slow down the pace and laze around! oh gotta ad i don´t fully understand what internet owner lady just said bt she just left..................completely gone i sai i´d be here 15 mins and she left............................crazy what if i started calling more cals or drinking all the pop in the cooler??????????????????????? gues being a tourists she trusts me............sadly one day one bad tourists wil abuse the freindlyness and kindness of the colombian people...............well i gotta go drink ll the drins n call some overseas calls............hha just joking but she still ain´t back!
