well, was sad to leave the hostal with the amazing view and such a nice drunken owner.....but it had to be done. We took the bus to La Libertad and then bused to playa el Tunco, a little beach with only about 6-8 places to stay and mainly just surfers there. The ride was long as we had to go into San Salvadore and were stuck in traffic................I hate capital cities and what a shithole that one is..............................Oh well..
We sure did see a poor shanty town, a sort of slum that had people appear to be squating in this area with shelters , some made of cardboard, the people looked dirty, depressed, and down right poor. Wow, that sight is just burned into my head of the dirty poor faces we saw as we drove by...............poor people
Well Dave and I hit this pollo campadre.......a kinda fast food chain of fried chicken. We had lunch there and was offered a ride to the beach from a Canadian guy from Nova Scotia and his El Salvadorian wife.......they live 6 months in canada and 6 months here .......what a sweet life that would be! Our place is awesome as it is so close to the ocean and at night we lay in bed to sound of waves crashing on the beach. The first night we did not much and went to bed early. Yesterday I came into town by walking to the highway, waiting for the next passing bus and flagging it down.................20 mins later I was in town and walking around the market area surrounded by food stalls and a central park down the street. Nice to take a break from the beach and have some cheap eats as the beach area is kinda touristy and prices for food are expensive.
Yesterday i ran into a spanish couple i met 5 days ago so I told them of our beach. After town i swam and got pummelled by the waves before the sun set. Then dave an I met up with the spanish couple and had some drinks with them. Well the restaurant and bar was overlooking the ocean and dave adn I had beers and a burger with fries and bill was 17.00(beer and burgers are cheap, just seafood is pricey) Trent, we were drinking Brahva.....for 1.00 a beer ...So life is good Especially overlooking the ocean and palmtrees for that price. After the bar we went to that couples hotel that was full of German tourists so we ended up visiting and telling travel stories until almost 3:00 am. The owner of the hotel got up 2 times to tell us to keep our voices down........but they were the paying customers so not like he coulda kicked them out or made them go to bed!
Today I got up and just sat on the balcony watching the surfers , then headed to town for lunch and a MSN messenger appointment with Laura!
Well off to the park for an ice cream.....
Take care everyone- Sawka

Hi Chris - we are really enjoying your comments. I know what you mean about seeing the security and guns everywhere - - - the country has a mass mentality of their revolution days and they live in fear; we had the same experience in Chili, Peru and Brazil. The people are really wonderful though --- Enjoy!!
Love, Brian & Diane
Hi Chris - I forgot to tell you, when we were in Chili we were surprised to see that some of the nicer tourist spots (accommodations) along the ocean were sometimes not that much more than some of the cheaper hotels. Check them out!
