The last few days....

Well, I have been totally slacking at this blog thing. I would go to use the computer and it was so slow and I was too imopatient to wait!
We spent a good 3 solid days relaxing on the beach in Gokarna (Kudlie beach). The longer we stayed, the more peaceful and relaxing it became and harder to leave. Man, one of the guys there even did our laundry. He did a load for 45 rupees. Let me tell you, that was the best spent $1.12 ever. It sure beat wringing out our clothes on the bathroom floor! Yeah, imagine, no running water, but he used a washing machine. He must have just filled it with the same well water I gathered in my bucket everyday for a shower.
One day we walked in the sweltering heat to a neaby beach, OM beach. It was just as nice as the one we were at. We spent the day swimming and being lazy. I bought a coconut from a man selling fruit on the beach, so we sat down to eat it. There was a group of local guys (about 7 or 8) they were very friendly and chatty and kept trying to make us eat their food. They were having a picnic, Chris was practiacally forced into eating bananas! Very friendly they were. They asked about Canada, and like every other conversation we had in India, we had to talk about cricket. They are in love with cricket. Up until weeks ago, I had no idea what cricket was. I had no idea that Canada had a team, let alone a team in the world cup! Who knew.....
Anyways, it was funny, we put the coconut into a bag in my purse and a passing cow stopped to check us out. He sniffed us a bit and then must have smelled something in my bag, so he had his nose in my bag. It was funny, he didn't get the coconut, but we have some good pics that I will be sure to post in the next few days. haha, The locals not only like to talk cricket, but they LOVE having their pictures taken. They saw us taking pics of this cow, and thought they should get in the action, so they made me take pics of them feeding it bananas, and then a group pic of Chris and all his new friends. Then another group passing by saw it was picture time so I had a group of guys standing around me so they could take my pic with their camera phone. Crazy crazy...
Anyways, a few days later we decided on a change of scenery and trudged our way to town with our bags. At this point, my bag is so heavy, I was dripping sweat carrying it in the crazy heat. It didn't help we had to climb pretty steep hills to get to town. We got to town and hopped the local bus, which the locals push started (haha) and we headed to the train station for the 11:15 train, which had been delayed to 12:30. We eventually got back to Goa, around 2:00. We got a room, and killed the last few hours of the day on the beach. Chris had been to this beach around 5 years ago and remembered it to be similar to the one we had just left from. He said it developed so much. There were wall to wall (palm tree to palm tree) guest houses and restaurants. Nothing like where we just had come from, but it was still nice and peaceful. We spent a couple days there. One day we walked into town, and wandered around, bought some fruit, delicious watermelon and more coconut. We walked by an x-ray clinic, so I thought I'd go check it out. I am so grateful I haven't worked with that equipment. It was pretty ancient, interesting though. It was nice of the girl to let me in to look. She must have thought I was a nut, taking pictures of the equipment and poking around!
We lazed around for one more day, and then had to leave to catch a night bus, since unfortunatly, the trip was coming to an end.
We got on our bus at 5:30pm, prepared for the 13 hour journey (600 kms) and realized an hour or two into the trip that everyother single bus was passing ours, we got the slow one. We arrived in Mumbai at 11:00 the next morning. Talk about slow. Saturday we did some last minute shopping and then headed to the airport tcatch our 7:00 pm flight....
