Well, I will finish where Chris left off!
We got on our bus after both taking immodium! Chris even had me worried! All was good. The bus was actually better than we both imagined, and we were able to sleep a little bit. The bus stopped at 4:30 am and I was sleeping so just thought we were at a bus stop, so i drifted off back to sleep, and when i woke up an hour later the bus was almost empty, not moving and parked in the same spot. Weird. I looked out the window closer and realized were were already in Nairobi. I asked a man on the bus what was going on, and he said we are in Nairobi, but wait, don't go out until there are more people around. Crazy. Thats how dangerous this city really must be. We waited until it was almost light outside, and got a cab to our hotel that we stayed at when we were in nairobi last a week and a half ago.
We tried to sleep for a couple hours, I didn't succeed.
We got up and went to an elephant orpanage ion a park not too far from here. The cutest things. Sad though, poor baby elephants, all orphaned. Some fell in wells loooking for water, others, the mothers were killed by poachers. We learned a lot about the cute little things. They were ranging in age from 5 months to 18 months or so. We saw them be bottle fed and learned a bit about them. Some of them can't be released into the wild until they are 10 years old.
After the elephant place, we went to a giraffe sanctuary, where they do the same kind of thing with the one breed of giraffe thats endangered. They raise the babies and release them. Unfortuately we didn't see any babies, but we did get to feed some momma giraffes. So cute. I even got kissed by one! I have a pic I will put on when I get home.
So this afternoon we are just bumming around "Nairobbery" (we are being careful!) and we will head back to the guesthouse in a bit, have some supper and then I am off to the airport at 2AM for the first of 4 LONGGGGG flights home. I must say I am looking forward to my bed. Can't wait!
Chris is off to Ethiopia on Saturday morning. I have to give him credit. I don't think I could do it. It is so poor here, and I can't imagine it being much poorer. But, I am sure Ethiopia will be worse.
Well, I will be home soon and for sure get some pictures on here. Chris will also hopefully be able to find computers around Ehtiopia. I'm sure they are few and far between, but I will tell him we are all looking forward to his stories!
Bye for now!
