I have arrived in Bogota after an uneventful flight, but a tiring day. Chris was exactly where he said he would be at the airport, which was nice of him!
We decided to spend one day here in Bogota. There were a few places I wanted to see, so we did that today. Its acually a nice city. There is a lot of history here. Tons of old buildings that have been very well kept. We went to a gold museum today and an art gallery. Both were in our guide book and were both interesting to see. The art gallery had painting from a Colombian artist, Fernando Botero. http://www.lablaa.org/museobotero.htm Very interesting pictures. All mostly of people, but rather large people! Also, there were some Picassos, Dali, Klimt and others that i don´t remember right now. Bogota also has a lot of churches, and today being Sunday they were all open with services and we were able to walk in a look around. They are so old, in fact from the 1600 and 1700s. Beautiful architecture. We couldnt take pictures though, but all gold beautiful woodwork.
We wandered some more around town, had some coffee and food. I think the food is going to be rather boring this year. Good coffee though. Hopefully Ecuador will have a better food selection. In fact, we had pizza for supper tonight!
Well, tomorrow we are leaving to Ecuador. Its a long bus ride, but hopefully we should be there Tuesday afternoon sometime.
