Well, I finally made it. I had a minor íncident´along the way, but otherwise OK!
The last leg of the flight was good. It was 4 1\2 hours long and I managed to sleep for 3 hours at least. I had no problems making it through customs and getting my luggage. I got a taxi to take me to the hotel Chris and I had agreed on meeting at. I arived at the hotel at about 7 :45 and was told that Chris haden´t arrived yet. She showed me his name in the reservation book and said (in spanish, I might add) that he wasn´t there. Well, I will tell you, panic set it. I checked my email, had nothing. I had a HUGE language barrier, as no on that worked at the hotel spoke English) I sat in the lobby thinking that because I was a bit early, maybe he got delayed and we would still meet by 9:00. The fellow Chris was supposed to be meeting up with acutally called the hotel at 9:00 to ask if he was there.....as i he couldn´t find Chris the night before.....After a bit of thinking (mentally designing missing person posters in my head) and a few tears, I look up, and who happens to be walking towards me, from his hotel room, i might add. Well you guessed it, CHris. Turns out he had been there all along. The lady just didn´t check the check-in book, just the reservation book. Well, we were both a bit angry at her, me just more relieved i didn´t have to make those posters....At least i can laugh about it now....
We decided to take it easy today, but still get out of the city. I was not in the mood for a hour bus ride, so we took the ´chicken bus´as Chris spoke of earlier in the emails, and headed to a small town towards the Hondurian border that he had been at before. We actually went to the same place he stayed at (remember the hotel owner that was drinking beer in the middle of the afternoon?) and they had no rooms, but the lady led us to the back of her house and showed us her own room, which she rearragned, changed the sheets and totally made into a hotel room. Slighly awkward, but the heat had set in and I was in NO mood to haul my big bag around searching for a room. They really are super friendly. We are only here for one night, so we will make the best of it...
Today we just sat by the lake and chatted, and ate some lunch. Just relaxed. I am heading to bed soon, I can´t believe I am still awake..
Shay, I just had some puposas, just for you and they are quite tasty!
Tomorrow we are going to head to Honduras, and I am expecting a long day of bus rides. It is super hot, but I am grateful to not be near snow right now, but a breeze would be nice!
I really wish I took some spanish lessons now, as I understand about 5% of what is being said to me. Chris is totally going to come home bilingual!
Well, I`m out of here for now. Hopefully be at a computer on Monday.....
