I think i'm melting!!

Ok, so I'm a retard. I couldn't find the blogger website, so typed an email and sent it. Now i've figured it out and will post my email! I think its the heat getting to me. I will post Chris's after mine as I'm sure he has some loyal readers here now! ps--I'm too hot to edit Chris's spelling!

Laura

Hey,
I am unable to access the blog website in this town, so I will write an e-mail and then post it to blogspot later.
Well, where did I leave off?
Oh yeah, I think I was just heading out to the beach again! We've been enjoing the sun and intense heat now for the past few days. I feel like my skin is melting! I'm red like a lobster as I've been slacking in my sunscreen application, but from now on I am putting in on thick!
Yesterday we woke up, checked out of the room and caught a bus to the Anjuna market. Its a wednesday only market that was about 5 beaches from the one we were at. That was quite the mission. We went on one (crowded) bus to one town, and had to get on another to get to the market. The market was the craziest place ever. There were people all over selling massive amounts of jewellry, blankets, spices, food, purses, you name it. People were walking around with cows all painted up and dressed up all fancy. One cow had a strange growth on its back and another had 2 legs growing out of its neck.. yeah, I tell you that was one of the craziest looking things ever. I was too shocked to even whip out my camera and take a picture. People we praying to it, thinking it was the most holy thing ever. We had some lunch and shopped around a bit. Prices were ridiculous, but i ended up picking up some earrings for cheap cheap cheap! I'm such a wonderful bargainer!! haha
We picked up our bags(we had left them with a lady running a store-- she didn't want to watch them cause she thought they had bombs in them..imagine, they think that tourists want to bomb them) and offered her money 20Rps (50cents) for watching them, she refused to take it, but in the end we insisted.
we jumped on the next bus and went to a town to catch our next bus. You would think things would be simple here. No, there is not a direct bus from one beach to the next, you have to take many many buses to get where you want to go here. In this town, we found a train ticket booking office and got tickets for tonights train ride to Cochin, Kerala. Anyways, we then took another bus and then one more, and at 6:00 we finally got to Benaulim beach after 50 kms in 6 buses. Crazy. and to think, we went to a different beach than what we orignially planned! a closer one!
We found a room and quicky went to the beach as it gets dark at about 7:00. We had a drink and then eventually some supper. I had the absolute best butter chicken ever possible! Then one of the worst pina coladas ever possible! Finally we hit the sack as we were both exausted from hours and hours of dusty bus rides and million degree weather!
Today I was woken up by 3 parakeets at about 6AM, they were in a cage under the balcony of our room. I sat on the balcony (and plucked my eyebrows in the natural light!) til Chris woke up and we went for my first chai tea. Starbucks, you've got nothing on that one! It was pretty tasty.
We headed down to the beach and swam for a bit and then sat in the sun until it got almost unbearable. We checked out of our room, sat at a restaurant and had some lunch, and relaxed in the shade for a bit. Life is wonderful. Its so nice here, I don't want to leave tonight, but its going to be nice anywhere we go . This beach is a lot more relaxed than the last one we were at. Its a totally different crowd. This one has about 75% or maybe more 50 plus european tourists (We're the dirtiest ones hands down..I put on a pair of my new earrings to try and fit in a bit!! haha) while the last one was about 80% hippies. Loads of people travelling with kids here, its hard to believe actually. Tonight we are heading to Cochin on a night train. This will be my first train ride ever, so It should be interesting, especially in India! We're taking a sleeper train which means there are beds to sleep on. Hopefully its not too bumpy and we can actually sleep a bit.I hear its hotter in Kerala (state we're going too) than here. Not sure what to think of that! yikes.
Well, I'm going to go and try and get "the ants go marching song" out of my head now since there are about 20 ants on the desk i'm using! Hope you are enjoing the trip!
Love Laura

Chris
